The cream is beginning to climb to the top of the pile. At least, that’s the situation in the NFC, where four one-loss teams are chasing the Cardinals’ unbeaten record. The AFC, on the other hand, is led by six clubs, all of them have two defeats. Please slip into my DMs if you can state with certainty which teams will split up right now.

Options for the Super Bowl
Finding the needle in the haystack is obviously the key to grabbing a valuable future ticket. However, I believe it is still too impossible to evaluate a one-way betting market. As I stated last week, the Dallas Cowboys (11-1) have a very appealing road that might lead them to the NFC’s top spot. However, they are merely 2.5-point favorites at Minnesota on Sunday, and the bye week may have disrupted their routine. After all, a 6-0 ATS record is amazing, but what happens when you take a week off?
In Week 8, two additional one-loss teams face difficult opponents. On Thursday, the Green Bay Packers (11-1) are six-point underdogs at Arizona, and star wide receiver Davante Adams may not play. In New Orleans, Super Bowl favorite Tampa Bay (+500) is merely a 4.5-point favorite, as Tom Brady struggled in each of the three encounters in 2020.
The Los Angeles Rams (+850) have done a good job of positioning themselves, but they still have road games to play against Green Bay, Arizona, Minnesota, and Baltimore. Arizona (+900) is the only rational option in the NFC right now, in my opinion. In all but one of the remaining games, they will almost certainly be favorites. The Cardinals deserve our respect, and current skeptics may finally give it to them on Thursday night.
The AFC is crazy right now, with the Cincinnati Bengals and Las Vegas Raiders leading their respective divisions. The Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts will face off on Sunday, but should we have faith in either team to go all the way in the playoffs? The Buffalo Bills are currently in first place in the AFC East, although they have lost two of their first six games. Buffalo (+550), as the second-favorite, will not be getting my money right now. I also don’t have enough faith in Cincinnati (35-1) or Las Vegas (50-1).

With four quarterbacks at +500 or less, the MVP race is beginning to take form. I still believe it’s incredible that Aaron Rodgers is 10-1 with just one defeat as Halloween approaches. However, as I have said, the NFC is very well-balanced. Lamar Jackson is also a contender for a second MVP award, but is his 14-1 record enough to tempt him? Will one of the top two seeds go to the Ravens? Pass.

We’re all still surprised to see Patrick Mahomes listed at 40-1. It seems like a sucker gamble, as enticing as it is and surely weirder things have occurred. Joe Burrow (40-1) and Derek Carr (50-1) have a better chance of outshining the famous names, but will either of them be able to do so? Is it more likely that the Bengals or Raiders will get a first-round bye? Carr, who came close to winning the prize in 2016, has a stronger chance than the other two. I also believe the squad has really embraced interim coach Rich Bisaccia, and there is plenty of room for improvement. While I am not convinced that the Raiders are 50-1 Super Bowl longshots, I believe Carr as MVP is a possibility. Otherwise, we may have to wait another week or two to see what happens.

The Indianapolis Colts are a +360 favorite to win the AFC South this season. As a one-point home underdog, the Colts have to overcome Tennessee on Sunday. Otherwise, they’ll be three defeats behind the Titans, who will have the tiebreaker. After this game, Tennessee travels to Los Angeles to face the Rams before hosting the Saints. I’m not ready to call a Colts play yet, but I don’t see a club like the Titans going undefeated. Their victories against Seattle and Buffalo might easily have been defeats. This is still the same club that was defeated by the Jets.

Minnesota Vikings have a +700 chance of winning the NFC North. The Vikings are two defeats behind the Packers, and they have yet to meet this season. Minnesota hosts Dallas, travels to Baltimore, then plays at the Chargers before hosting Green Bay next month, so the next month will be crucial. However, keep in mind that the Packers are six-point favorites in Arizona this week, so Minnesota’s early problems aren’t that awful. After losing by a combined four points on the road to Cincinnati and Arizona to start the season, the team is finally looking decent.
