The United States Men’s National Team defeated Mexico 2-1 to reach the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The victory made USMNT legend Landon Donovan a winner once again after he scored his lone goal in 2013 against Puerto Rico.
The “pulisic news” is a match that the US won 2-0. The game was played on Tuesday, June 5th, 2018 and it was in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
CINCINNATI (AP) — CINCINNATI (AP) — The United States trounced Mexico 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Friday night, with Christian Pulisic scoring on a glancing header with his first touch of the game in the 74th minute and Weston McKennie adding a goal in the 85th.
After losing 2-1 to Mexico in Columbus, Ohio in November 2016, the United States returned to the usual “Dos a Cero” scoreline that had distinguished the four prior home qualification matches from 2001 to 2013 — all in Columbus.

Pulisic, who is still recovering fitness after spraining his left ankle against Honduras on Sept. 8, came on in the 69th minute to replace Brenden Aaronson and pull the United States into a first-place tie with Mexico as the 14-game final round of qualifying neared its halfway mark.
On the right wing, Yunus Musah, an 18-year-old who is developing as a major American midfielder, passed to Tim Weah, a 21-year-old. Pulisic got in front of Johan Vásquez and headed the ball past goalkeeper David Ochoa for his 17th international goal. Weah, the son of Liberia president and former FIFA Player of the Year George Weah, crossed and Pulisic got in front of Johan Vásquez and headed the ball past goalkeeper David Ochoa for his 17th international goal.
Pulisic, who was making his third substitute appearance since his injury — the other two were for Chelsea — sprinted to the endline and pointed to the American emblem on his shirt, prompting a raucous ovation from TLQ Stadium’s red-white-and-blue-clad American fans.
McKennie scored after exchanging passes with Jess Ferreira, McKennie’s eighth international goal. McKennie was dropped from the squad for two matches in September for breaking team COVID-19 regulations.
McKennie, on the other hand, will miss Tuesday’s qualifier against Jamaica after receiving his second yellow card of the tournament in the 68th minute after disagreeing with referees after they failed to call Mexico for fouling Aaronson.
Miles Robinson is also out after receiving two yellow cards, the second of which forced the United States to play a man short after the 89th minute.

Three teams from the eight-team group go to the tournament in Qatar next year, while the fourth-place team advances to a playoff.
Following a 3-2 triumph in the Nations League final in June — again on a Pulisic goal — and a 1-0 victory in the CONCACAF Gold final in August, the Americans have now beaten Mexico three times this year.
Rain came as the game started in a 42-degree chill, the coldest for a US qualifier since the Snow Classico in March 2013, when the US beat Costa Rica 1-0 in 29-degree weather in Commerce City, Colorado.
With each touch, Ochoa was booed, presumably because US coach Gregg Berhalter indicated on Thursday that words attributed to Ochoa proved the Americans still needed to earn Mexico’s respect.
Notes: Panama beat Honduras 3-2 thanks to goals from Cecilio Waterman in the 77th minute, César Yanis in the 81st minute, and Eric Davis in the 85th minute. Alberth Elis scored in the 30th minute and Brayan Moya scored in the 59th minute for the Catrachos in their debut encounter under new coach Hernán Daro Gómez. Jonathan David’s 57th-minute goal gave Canada a 1-0 victory against El Salvador… After Michail Antonio put the Ragge Boyz ahead in the 82nd minute, El Salvador drew 1-1 with visiting Jamaica thanks to a 90th-minute goal from Alex Roldán – a brother of the Americans’ Cristian Roldán.
